Indian law enforcement has apprehended two Nigerian nationals over separate offenses involving drug trafficking and immigration violations.
The Goa Police Crime Branch arrested 23-year-old Nnanyelugo Abasili during a raid in the Parra area on Friday. According to the Times of India, authorities recovered narcotics from his rented accommodation with an estimated street value of Rs 1.6 crore (approximately ₦301.12 million).
Superintendent of Police Rahul Gupta stated that the confiscated drugs included 60g of cocaine, 99g of brown heroin, 1.1g of ecstasy (2,400 tablets), 19g of crystal MDMA, and Rs 70,000 in cash.
Police reports indicate Abasili entered India on April 28, 2025, using a student visa.
In a separate incident the next day, authorities detained another Nigerian, 24-year-old Chigozie Ezekiel, along with a 29-year-old Ivorian, Ismale Baba, for staying in the country without valid travel documents. Both were arrested in the same neighborhood.
