United Capital Asset Management West Africa Limited (UCAMWAL), a new subsidiary of United Capital Plc, has officially launched operations in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, introducing two CFA franc-denominated mutual funds: the UCAMWAL Bond Fund and the UCAMWAL Diversified Fund.

The launch represents a key milestone in United Capital’s pan-African growth strategy, specifically targeting the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU) region. The new funds aim to provide diversified and accessible investment opportunities for residents across eight member countries: Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Niger, Senegal, and Togo.

Speaking at the launch event, Group CEO Peter Ashade highlighted the company’s vision “this marks the beginning of our expansion into Francophone West Africa. We are committed to fostering financial inclusion and economic resilience, by Africans for Africa. Our goal is to drive cross-border investments and unlock long-term wealth creation across the continent.”

Ejikeme Okoli, Director of Africa Operations, emphasized the firm’s collaborative approach:

“Our presence in WAEMU isn’t just about market entry—it’s about impact. We aim to partner with local economies, leveraging insights to deliver tailored solutions and inclusive growth.”

Managing Director of UCAMWAL, Labas Bamba, noted that the funds were designed to align global investment standards with local market realities.

“Every investor’s journey is unique. Our products are built to meet a variety of financial goals across different life stages,” he said.

The UCAMWAL Bond Fund is a low-risk, open-ended fund focused on fixed-income and money market instruments.

The UCAMWAL Diversified Fund offers a balanced-risk profile through multi-asset allocation.

United Capital Plc currently manages nearly ₦2 trillion in assets and over $500 million in mutual funds within Nigeria, and is expanding to reinforce its footprint across the continent.
