A small plane crashed into a residential backyard in Simi Valley, southern California, on Saturday, killing two people onboard and damaging nearby homes, according to local authorities.
The Ventura County Fire Department reported that the single-engine aircraft hit two houses in the suburban neighborhood northwest of Los Angeles around 2:00 p.m. Fortunately, no residents were injured.
Photos shared by the department showed significant damage, including holes in roofs, broken fences, and damaged trees. The aircraft was found in a backyard, police said.
According to CBS News, the aircraft—a Van’s RV-10—had departed from William J. Fox Airfield in Los Angeles County and was en route to Camarillo Airport in Ventura County. A dog was also onboard during the crash.
This incident follows a similar crash in January when another Van’s RV-10 hit a commercial building near Fullerton Municipal Airport, resulting in two deaths and multiple injuries.
