US President Donald Trump revealed Tuesday that he plans to pardon Todd and Julie Chrisley, stars of the reality show Chrisley Knows Best, who were convicted in 2022 of bank fraud and tax evasion. The couple has served two years of their prison sentences.
In a phone call with their daughter, Savannah Chrisley, Trump said: “Your parents are going to be free and clean and I hope we can do it by tomorrow.” A video of the call, shared on social platform X by White House adviser Margo Martin, shows Trump reassuring Savannah — a vocal supporter who spoke at the 2024 Republican National Convention — that her parents had received “pretty harsh treatment” based on his understanding of the case.
The pardon is part of a broader pattern under Trump’s administration, in which the president has frequently extended clemency to political allies and public figures. On his first day back in office, January 20, Trump issued a sweeping pardon to individuals involved in the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot.
Pardon attorney Ed Martin echoed the administration’s stance in a social media post Monday, writing: “No MAGA left behind,” a nod to Trump’s campaign slogan, Make America Great Again.
Notably, Trump himself was convicted last year on 34 counts of falsifying business records related to a hush money payment to adult film actress Stormy Daniels.
