Starlink, the satellite internet service by Elon Musk’s SpaceX, has resumed new user activations in Nigeria following a regulatory pause and recent network upgrades.

The company had suspended residential kit orders across Nigeria in November 2024, citing pending approval from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC). During the pause, prospective customers were unable to order or activate the satellite internet kits.

Starlink has now expanded its bandwidth and upgraded its infrastructure, allowing it to resume activations, particularly in high-demand areas such as Lagos and Abuja.

“This marks a major step in bridging Nigeria’s digital divide,” said a spokesperson for the company, now ranked as the nation’s third-largest internet service provider.

The expanded capacity is expected to enhance speed and connection reliability, especially in underserved or previously congested areas, benefiting both homes and businesses.

Reacting to the relaunch, Starlink’s largest authorized retail partner in Nigeria, **Konga**, expressed enthusiasm.

“To simplify access, we’re offering free nationwide delivery,” the e-commerce company said. “Customers can order online or visit any of our retail outlets in cities including Asaba, Port Harcourt, Uyo, Owerri, Ibadan, Kano, Enugu, and more.”

This move is seen as a boost for digital inclusion, particularly in regions with poor traditional broadband coverage. With increasing demand for high-speed internet driven by remote work, e-learning, and digital services, Starlink’s relaunch is poised to reshape Nigeria’s connectivity landscape.
