A recent Russian missile strike on the city of Dnipro in central Ukraine has raised the death toll to 17, with 279 people, including children, wounded, according to Sergiy Lysak, the regional governor. A photo released by the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration shows damage to a church building following the attack.
Meanwhile, in Ukraine’s southern Kherson region, local officials reported that Russian airstrikes killed one person and injured two others. Oleksandr Prokudin, Kherson’s governor, confirmed that a strike on the village of Tavriyske resulted in one death. A guided bomb hit a residential building, injuring a 34-year-old man, and another woman in her 70s was wounded overnight in the Korabelny district, according to Kherson’s military administration and council reports on Telegram.
Russian forces continue daily attacks on Ukrainian towns and cities, while Moscow’s troops have been advancing slowly in the northeastern Sumy region.
Diplomatic Efforts Stall
Despite pressure from the United States, peace talks remain at an impasse. Kyiv accuses Moscow of deliberately undermining peace negotiations to extend its offensive and capture more territory.
Russia currently controls about 20% of Ukraine and claims to have annexed four Ukrainian regions since its 2022 invasion, in addition to Crimea, which it occupied in 2014.
In response, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed an agreement with the Council of Europe to establish a special tribunal to prosecute senior officials responsible for Russia’s invasion.
