The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has publicly criticized the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for its lack of preparation for the 2027 elections.
According to Wike, the party lacks a robust organizational structure capable of challenging the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming polls.
Wike made these remarks during a live media interaction in Abuja on Friday. He stated that despite efforts from opposition leaders to form a united front against the APC, significant challenges remain in their coalition talks due to conflicting interests among key stakeholders.
During the media session, Wike compared the PDP’s preparations to a student pretending to study for an exam.
He said: “The PDP is not ready for the 2027 election. It’s quite clear. For example, if I have an exam and I’m heading to class with a bag, but I’m not actually reading or preparing, then I’m not ready. That’s the situation of the PDP right now. They can’t confidently claim they are ready for 2027. Power struggles will only harm the party.”
