Leader of the UK Conservative Party, Kemi Badenoch, has urged Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s Labour government to adopt the Conservatives’ proposed deportation bill to curb rising immigration levels.
In a video posted to her official X account on Saturday, Badenoch warned that nearly two million immigrants could become British citizens by next year — “almost twice the population of Birmingham,” she emphasized.
“We’ve introduced a deportation bill because we’re committed to bringing immigration down,” she said.
The proposed bill, released Tuesday, includes tough new measures such as mandatory age checks, stricter visa regulations, repatriation of foreign criminals, and suspension of the Human Rights Act in immigration cases. It also proposes that asylum support be repayable and denies permanent residency to individuals dependent on welfare.
“Until this becomes law, the immigration system remains broken,” Badenoch stated. “Labour should act now. It’s time to get tough. This bill delivers. Our country is a home, not a hotel.”
