The Federal Government of Nigeria has reiterated its dedication to deepening its strategic partnership with China, highlighting the collaboration as crucial for fast-tracking the country’s industrialisation and economic transformation.
President Bola Tinubu reaffirmed this commitment on Monday while receiving Joseph Tegbe, Director-General and Global Liaison of the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership (NCSP), at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Describing the NCSP as a “key pillar” of Nigeria’s foreign and economic policy, particularly in sectors such as trade, infrastructure, energy, and human capital development, President Tinubu emphasized the administration’s resolve to leverage this relationship to spur economic growth.
During the meeting, Tegbe provided an update on the progress made under the comprehensive strategic partnership agreement jointly signed by President Tinubu and China’s President Xi Jinping.
Tegbe noted significant advancements in engagements with Chinese government officials and investors, focusing on key sectors including infrastructure, technology, manufacturing, agriculture, education, healthcare, and mineral development. “Our goal is to attract targeted investments into critical areas of Nigeria’s economy,” he said.
President Tinubu praised Tegbe and the NCSP team for their efforts in aligning international cooperation with Nigeria’s development priorities. He urged the NCSP to accelerate the implementation of major projects, stressing the importance of delivering tangible and measurable benefits to Nigerians through these foreign partnerships.
