The naira weakened further in the parallel market on Tuesday, dropping to N1,620 per dollar from N1,610 the previous day.
However, the local currency saw a modest gain in the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM), where it appreciated to N1,579 per dollar from N1,580 on Monday, according to data from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
As a result, the gap between the parallel market and the official exchange rate widened to N41 per dollar, compared to N30 per dollar the previous day.
