The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has confirmed that a series of airstrikes under Operation Hadin Kai have killed numerous Boko Haram terrorists and destroyed one of their strongholds in Borno State.

The precision air raid, conducted in the early hours of Friday, targeted fleeing insurgents in Bita—a well-known Boko Haram enclave in Nigeria’s North-East. According to a statement from NAF’s Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Edward Ejodame, the coordinated assault represents a significant step in the ongoing fight to degrade terrorist operations in the region.

The statement read, “The Nigerian Air Force, through the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai, has achieved a major operational success against Boko Haram terrorists.

“NAF combat aircraft carried out precision airstrikes on terrorists in Bita, Borno State, neutralising scores of insurgents. This operation is considered one of the most impactful in recent times against the terrorist group.”

The strikes, executed under the cover of darkness, are said to mark a major breakthrough in the military’s counter-insurgency campaign. Ground forces have since begun follow-up clearance operations to consolidate the gains from the successful air raids.

NAF also reiterated its commitment to national security, stating, “The Nigerian Air Force remains resolute in defending the country’s territorial integrity and ensuring the safety of law-abiding citizens. All efforts are being made to deny terrorists any safe haven within Nigeria.”
