At least 50 people have been killed in Israeli airstrikes across the northern Gaza Strip since midnight, according to Gaza’s civil defence agency.
“The number of martyrs killed in Israeli shelling targeting civilian homes in the northern Gaza Strip between midnight and early this morning has risen to 50,” civil defence official Mohammed al-Mughayyir told AFP. He added that rescue teams were still working in the affected areas.
A doctor at the Indonesian Hospital in Beit Lahia, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed the hospital had received 30 bodies and treated dozens of wounded—mostly women and children.
Mohammed Saleh, acting director of Al-Awda Hospital in Jabalia, reported receiving five deceased individuals and treating over 75 others who were injured in the attacks.
Eyewitnesses described scenes of destruction and chaos. “The Israeli occupation bombed the house next to mine, hitting it directly while its residents were inside,” said Yousef Al-Sultan, 40, from the al-Salatin area. “There were airstrikes, artillery fire, and gunfire from drones.”
He added that widespread fear had gripped the community, with many residents fleeing their homes in the middle of the night.
