Globacom, a leader in telecommunications technology, has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining high-quality services and ensuring that customers continue to enjoy competitive voice and data rates, even in light of the recent nationwide tariff hike.
In a statement issued to PUNCH Online on Sunday, the company outlined its ongoing efforts to enhance the customer experience through a comprehensive network upgrade project.
“To uphold our high service standards, Glo is accelerating its network enhancement initiatives across the country,” the statement read.
The current phase of the upgrade, which began last year, focuses on expanding new network sites and enhancing existing ones.
“This large-scale upgrade covers all telecom infrastructure, from the core network to the access network, transmission, IP network, fiber, metro access, and backbone systems. We are also improving passive equipment such as power and environmental systems,” the company explained.
To alleviate network congestion and improve connectivity, Globacom has successfully deployed hundreds of new sites in key locations, including Lagos, Ogun, Nasarawa, Rivers, Edo, Delta, Cross River, Kaduna, Kano, and Abuja.
“This upgrade will increase network capacity, provide more resources for customers, and improve their overall experience,” the company added.
In addition, Globacom has integrated hundreds of LTE 2600 sites in vital markets such as Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Ondo, Kwara, as well as in various tertiary institutions in Rivers, Edo, Abuja, Enugu, and Anambra.
“This strategic rollout ensures high-speed data access in critical areas, while alleviating network congestion,” the company emphasized.
As part of its contribution to the Federal Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy’s broadband penetration initiative, Globacom has expanded its data network capacity by enhancing 1,700 sites in states such as Ogun, Oyo, Ondo, Osun, Ekiti, Edo, Delta, Anambra, Enugu, Abia, Ebonyi, Bayelsa, Benue, Nasarawa, Kaduna, and Plateau.
“This project focuses on improving data throughput, ensuring customers enjoy seamless browsing and calling experiences,” the statement further clarified.
The company also highlighted its efforts to install hundreds of new 2G, 3G, and 4G base stations nationwide to meet the growing demand for coverage and network capacity.
“These new base stations will improve service quality, coverage, and overall network performance across Nigeria,” the company noted.
In addition, Globacom disclosed that it has upgraded the Glo1 submarine cable to enhance its capacity and support ongoing technological advancements.
“This upgrade guarantees optimal performance, supporting our infrastructure expansion and ensuring superior browsing and calling experiences for Glo customers,” the company stated.
Finally, to improve network reliability, Globacom has undertaken a significant upgrade of its power and fiber infrastructure.
“We are installing thousands of new generators and replacing outdated fiber routes across thousands of kilometers. This initiative aims to provide network redundancy, improving service availability and ensuring seamless customer experiences,” the company concluded.
