The German government has announced the successful evacuation of 64 citizens from Israel on Friday, using two German Air Force aircraft.
According to a joint statement from the foreign and defence ministries, the two Airbus A400M planes were deployed to assist “families with children and other vulnerable individuals.”
Officials clarified that the evacuation was not a military operation but a diplomatic effort coordinated closely with Israeli authorities. A military mission would have required parliamentary approval under German law.
This latest evacuation follows earlier efforts by Germany, which included two chartered flights via Amman that brought 345 individuals to safety. Another evacuation flight is scheduled to depart from the Jordanian capital on Saturday.
Germany joins several other nations currently facilitating evacuations from Israel and Iran, as tensions between the two countries escalate, resulting in ongoing aerial strikes.
