The US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested a 29-year-old Nigerian man, Oluwaseun Kassim, as part of an ongoing crackdown on undocumented immigrants.
Kassim was apprehended in Chicago following his conviction for multiple counts of criminal sexual assault in Kankakee County, Illinois. ICE announced the arrest on its official social media platforms on Thursday.
The operation is part of broader immigration enforcement measures ordered by President Donald Trump in January 2025. Since the start of his second term, ICE Acting Director Todd Lyons reported that over 65,000 undocumented immigrants have been arrested in the first 100 days.
Lyons noted that among those arrested, 1,329 individuals were either accused or convicted of sex-related offenses, while 498 faced charges or convictions for murder.
