United States President Donald Trump has announced a full and immediate ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan, following days of intense military conflict involving jet fighters, missiles, drones, and artillery strikes.

In a statement posted on Truth Social, Trump said, “After a long night of U.S.-mediated talks, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a FULL AND IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE,” praising both nations for demonstrating “Common Sense and Great Intelligence.”

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed that the ceasefire was the result of extensive negotiations led by him and Vice President J.D. Vance, alongside Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

“I’m pleased to announce both governments have agreed to an immediate ceasefire and to begin broader talks at a neutral location,” Rubio said via X (formerly Twitter). He commended both leaders for their “wisdom, prudence, and statesmanship.”

The ceasefire follows Pakistan’s retaliatory strikes after three of its airbases were hit by Indian forces, sharply escalating the crisis between the nuclear-armed neighbors.

Pakistan’s foreign minister also confirmed the truce. India has yet to issue an official statement.
