A 29-year-old man was shot and killed overnight in Dijon, eastern France, in what authorities suspect was a gang-related attack.
The shooting took place in the Chenôve district, an area reportedly known for drug trafficking, according to prosecutor Olivier Caracotch.
Investigators recovered about a dozen shell casings from an automatic weapon at the scene. Nearby cars and a third-floor apartment were also struck, though no other injuries were reported.
Caracotch stated that the gunman approached a group that included the victim around midnight, opened fire, and fled the scene by car.
The victim, a local resident, had no known history of drug-related offenses.
Authorities have opened an investigation into organised gang murder and criminal conspiracy.
