The Zamfara State Government has announced that the state’s airport is nearing completion and is expected to be operational within the next four months. Governor Dauda Lawal made this disclosure in an interview with Arise TV, highlighting the importance of the airport in addressing accessibility issues and boosting investment in the state.
According to Lawal, the airport will help overcome security challenges that have plagued the state, particularly with road travel. He noted that the long and perilous journey from Abuja, which takes up to seven hours by road, often deters potential investors from coming to the state.
The governor expressed optimism that the airport’s completion will mark the beginning of good things for the state, making it more accessible and attractive to investors. He also pointed out improvements made on roads within the state to enhance safety and facilitate business activities.
The construction of the Gusau International Airport was reportedly designed to accommodate domestic and international flights, with the aim of reclaiming Zamfara’s historical role as a commercial hub in northern Nigeria.
